Auto insurance that fits the way you drive
Whether you commute daily or drive a few times a week, we'll help you understand your coverage choices and request quotes that reflect your vehicles and drivers.
What is auto insurance?
Auto insurance helps pay for costs after an accident, theft, or other covered loss involving your vehicle. Most states, including Illinois, require drivers to carry minimum liability coverage.
State minimums are a starting point, not a recommendation. Many drivers choose higher limits and optional coverages based on their vehicle, assets, and comfort with risk. An agent can walk you through what each option does.
Common coverage options
Availability and terms vary by insurance company and state. An agent can explain what applies to you.
- Bodily injury and property damage liability
- Helps pay for injuries to others and damage to their property when you're found responsible for an accident.
- Collision
- Helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle after a collision with another vehicle or object, regardless of fault, minus your deductible.
- Comprehensive
- Helps cover non-collision losses such as theft, vandalism, hail, falling objects, or hitting an animal.
- Uninsured and underinsured motorist
- Helps protect you when the at-fault driver has no insurance or not enough to cover your costs.
- Medical payments
- Helps pay medical expenses for you and your passengers after an accident, depending on the policy.
- Roadside assistance and rental reimbursement
- Optional add-ons that may help with towing, lockouts, or a rental car while yours is being repaired.
Benefits
- Help meeting state insurance requirements
- Financial protection if you cause an accident
- Options to protect your own vehicle
- One point of contact for questions and policy changes
Things to consider
- Have your driver's license numbers, vehicle identification numbers (VINs), and current policy handy when you talk to an agent.
- A higher deductible usually lowers the premium but means you pay more out of pocket after a claim.
- If you have a loan or lease, your lender may require collision and comprehensive coverage.
- Rideshare or delivery driving usually needs additional coverage. Let us know if you drive for an app.
Auto Insurance questions
How much auto insurance do I need?
At minimum, you need what your state requires. Beyond that, the right amount depends on your assets, vehicle value, and how much financial risk you're comfortable taking on. An agent can explain the trade-offs so you can decide.
What affects my auto insurance price?
Insurance companies commonly consider factors such as driving history, vehicle type, where the vehicle is kept, how much you drive, and the coverages and deductibles you choose. Each company weighs these differently.
Can I add a new driver or vehicle to my policy?
Usually, yes. Contact us with the driver's or vehicle's details and we'll help you with the change and explain how it may affect your policy.
Is this an instant quote?
No. Your request goes to a SureLine agent, who reviews your information and follows up with options. Pricing comes from the insurance companies and isn't final until a policy is issued.
